NBA Free Agency Predictions – SportsBlog.com (blog)
Could LeBron and Wade reunite again…but this time in Cleveland?
Tomorrow marks the beginning of another enticing NBA offseason, where dreams are built or at the very least, drastically overstated. Big names and their real estate statuses will consume the NBA world for the next few weeks as big stars sign the dotted lines for NBA franchises across the league. Superstars will be changing uniforms, franchises will be remodeled, and the Knicks…will most likely still be awful. But before the offseason begins, here are my predictions for NBA free agency:
1) LeBron James
Where He Should Sign: Cleveland Cavaliers: I mean…he wrote them a letter.
Where He Will Sign: Cleveland Cavaliers: He wrote them a letter.
2) Dwayne Wade
Where He Should Sign: Cleveland Cavaliers: LeBron did himself and Wade a solid by signing in Miami, Wade should return the favor
Where He Will Sign: Miami Heat: Because wouldn’t it be great if he led a Heat team over LeBron’s Cavs in the Eastern Conference Finals next year?
3) Kevin Love
Where He Should Sign: Los Angeles Lakers: Why not prove you are the player everyone thought you were in the bright lights of L.A.?
Where He Will Sign: Cleveland Cavaliers: Peer pressure is a ‘you know what’
4) LeMarcus Aldridge
Where He Should Sign: San Antonio Spurs: He would be the heir apparent to Tim Duncan
Where He Will Sign: Los Angeles Lakers: He is leaving Portland because he wants to be ‘the guy’ if Kobe is able to relinquish that title, it’s a good spot for Aldridge.
5) Marc Gasol
Where He Should Sign: Memphis Grizzles: Best fits his style of play
Where He Will Sign: Memphis Grizzles: Because it’s the only team he has scheduled a meeting with
6) DeAndre Jordan
Where He Should Sign: Los Angeles Clippers: ‘Lob City’ means as much to him as he does to ‘Lob City’
Where He Will Sign: New York Knicks: Because I don’t think they have learned from the Amare Stoudemire signing.
7) Jimmy Butler
Where He Should Sign: Chicago Bulls: He is a restricted free agent…
Where He Will Sign: Chicago Bulls: …and the Bulls are not letting him go
8) Brooks Lopez
Where He Should Sign: Detroit Pistons: With the loss of Greg Monroe, Lopez could provide some offense in the low post
Where He Will Sign: Portland Trail Blazers: They will need to try and replace Aldridge’s production in the post.
9) Goran Dragic
Where He Should Sign: Miami Heat: It’s the best fit for what Dragic and the Heat want to do
Where He Will Sign: Miami Heat: He know this.
10) Draymond Green
Where He Should Sign: Portland Trail Blazers: Portland has tried to win with 3-point shooting wings like Wesley Mathews and Nicholas Batum. Green provides something different
Where He Will Sign: Golden State Warriors: But the Warriors are not going to let him walk.
11) Danny Green
Where He Should Sign: New York Knicks: The Knicks need shooters, especially 3-point shooters
Where He Will Sign: Detroit Pistons: But the Pistons do too, and offer him more money.
12) Monta Ellis
Where He Should Sign: Dallas Mavericks: Ellis has traveled around far too much in his NBA career and the Mavs have been his true home
Where He Will Sign: Dallas Mavericks: Its got to suck moving every few years.
13) Wesley Mathews
Where He Should Sign: Toronto Raptors: The Raptors have struggled to make that next step because of their lack of shooters. Mathews is a step in the right direction.
Where He Will Sign: Toronto Raptors: It’s the perfect move for both sides
14) Patrick Beverley
Where He Should Sign: New York Knicks: His style of play would be beloved in New York and the triangle offense would be a perfect fit for him.
Where He Will Sign: New York Knicks: I think the Knicks get this right.
15) Aaron Afflalo
Where He Should Sign: Atlanta Hawks: They need another player who can hit threes besides Kyle Korver
Where He Will Sign: Portland Trail Blazers: But the Blazers need somebody to fill in the roles of Batum and Mathews.
