Van Gaal silent on De Gea future

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has refused to answer questions on David De Gea’s future as speculation persists over a move to Real Madrid.
De Gea has one year remaining on his contract and has confirmed he is considering his future amid interest from Madrid.
AS reports that United are requesting €46 million for the former Atletico Madrid keeper, while Marca said the English club will accept no less than €40m.
The Mail on Sunday has said that the 24-year-old may be forced to see out his contract with the two clubs unable to agree a fee, but Van Gaal declined to discuss the deal.
Van Gaal, speaking to Spanish TV channel Cuatro, said: “I don’t want to discuss the issue through the media. I will speak with my directors, not with the media.”
It has been suggested that United will try to engineer an exchange deal involving Sergio Ramos, but sources have told ESPN FC that Madrid have no interest in including the Spain centre-back in any agreement.
United legend Peter Schmeichel has told The Sun on Sunday he would be “upset” if De Gea left this summer.
Schmeichel, United’s goalkeeper between 1991 and 1999, said: “Whatever David would want in a new contract, if I were Van Gaal, I would fight tooth and nail to keep him happy in Manchester.
“Let’s face it, the number of games where David saved United three points or one point is the reason why they were fourth in the table. He has just been unbelievable.
“He is by a long way over the last two seasons United’s best performer.”
