Taylor Hall welcomes Connor McDavid with hilarious self-trolling of Oilers
SUNRISE, Fla. – Connor McDavid was drafted first overall by the Edmonton Oilers on Friday night, coming into the NHL as one of the most highly-touted rookies in decades.
He joins an Oilers team that … well, has had its struggles lately. Like not making the playoffs since losing in the Stanley Cup Final in 2006. Like having young stars like Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle never having appeared in a single playoff game.
So Hall decided to welcome McDavid to the team with a winking nod to how terrible that team’s been, with the following tweet:
Oh that’s just fantastic.
McDavid was asked about his potential linemates in Edmonton.
“I got picked about two minutes ago. A lot’s been going through my mind. That’s not necessarily one of them,” he said.
