Georgia Tech LB Anthony Harrell says he’s heading to Florida
According to Georgia Tech, linebacker Anthony Harrell has been indefinitely suspended. According to Harrell, he’s heading to Florida.
So it’s safe to say he won’t be a Yellow Jacket in 2015.
Georgia Tech tweeted Harrell’s suspension on Friday. He responded to the tweet and said it wasn’t true with a statement that he had decided to transfer to play for the Gators.
As a graduate transfer, Harrell is immediately eligible to play for Florida and will have one season to play.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the suspension was true. Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson said in a text message that the suspension was for a violation of team rules.
The AJC also said Harrell had been participating in Georgia Tech’s summer football program. The projected starter at middle linebacker had 19 tackles in 2014.
Middle linebacker Antonio Morrison is Florida’s only returning starting linebacker. He had four starts in 2014 before he suffered a season-ending knee injury.
