Former Wake Forest QB Tyler Cameron transfers to FAU
Florida Atlantic got a boost at quarterback Friday with the transfer of Tyler Cameron.
The former Wake Forest QB will join the Owls in 2015. As a graduate transfer, he’s immediately eligible and he graduated early so he’ll have two years to play in Boca Raton.
“Tyler is intelligent and made use of his athletic ability to earn a degree from Wake Forest in just three years,” FAU coach Charlie Partridge said in a statement. “It is that same drive that affords him the opportunity to return home and work toward a post-graduate degree. He will certainly add experience and depth in the quarterback meeting room.”
Cameron played in six games over two years for the Demon Deacons. He is 17-40 passing for 140 yards and three interceptions in his career. In 2014 he was 10-16 for 55 yards.
He likely won’t step in immediately and be the starter for the Owls. FAU returns Jaquez Johnson who was 182-315 passing for 2,215 yards and 17 touchdowns and five interceptions in 2014. His best game in 2014 came in FAU’s upset of Western Kentucky when he threw for 325 yards and three touchdowns.
Backup quarterback Greg Hankerson transferred from FAU earlier in the month.
