Daily Fantasy Baseball 2015: Best DraftKings MLB Pitcher Picks for June 26 – Bleacher Report
DraftKings players, don’t overthink this one.
The Washington Nationals’ Max Scherzer is coming off two fantastic starts. The last one was a near-perfect game that wound up being a no-hitter against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Some people might think that means he’s ripe for a fall. It’s an understandable thought, but Friday’s matchup is too good to ignore.
MLB’s hottest pitcher is facing the Philadelphia Phillies, who are hitting just .241 as a team, which is 24th in the majors. In 138 collective at-bats against Scherzer, Phillies hitters are hitting just .232 with one home run. Phillies hitters aren’t the only ones struggling against Scherzer, though. ESPN Stats & Info’s graph shows how dominant Scherzer has been:

It’s no wonder Scherzer‘s DK salary is an insane $14,000. Players with salaries that high are rarely worth it, but Scherzer has been so dominant and the Phillies have been so bad offensively that it seems like a crime not to tab the Nationals ace to anchor your squad Friday.
Trevor May ($6,300) at Milwaukee Brewers

If you draft Scherzer, you’re going to need a low-cost option for the other pitcher spot. The Minnesota Twins’ Trevor May is a player to consider. May and the Twins are visiting the Milwaukee Brewers. May hasn’t allowed more than three runs in any of his last four starts. That includes a strong outing against the Chicago Cubs in his last game.
May allowed just one run in six innings of work and has seemingly found a rhythm in the Twins rotation. The Brewers are another team DK players can target as a mark. When a pitcher is facing Milwaukee, you’ll want to strongly consider him for a roster spot. The Brewers were shut out Thursday and are hitting just .236 as a team.
As low-cost pitching options go, May is an excellent selection to pair with Scherzer.
Anibal Sanchez ($8,700) vs. Chicago White Sox

Over his last three games, Anibal Sanchez has averaged 30.3 fantasy points. Sanchez has gotten better after a slow start to the season. He has the benefit of facing another team struggling with the bats. The Chicago White Sox exploded for eight runs Thursday against the Detroit Tigers but are hitting just .240 as a team. They haven’t scored five or more runs in two games in a row since May.
Don’t expect them to string together two consecutive solid offensive performances.
Sanchez has lowered his ERA in five straight starts, and this looks like an opportunity to lower it even more. With an affordable DK salary, Sanchez is a potential high-value draft pick in case you don’t want to splurge on Scherzer.
Brett Anderson ($6,000) at Miami Marlins
Alex Gallardo/Associated Press
If you subtract Ichiro Suzuki’s 33 at-bats against Brett Anderson when both were in the American League, the current Miami Marlins roster is hitting just .187 against Anderson. To compound the upside of this matchup for Anderson, the Marlins have also had a tough time scoring runs.
In their last five games, the Marlins have scored a grand total of seven runs. That includes being held to one run by the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday.
While Anderson has had an up-and-down season, he is another budget pick who could be paired with Scherzer. With those two as your pitchers, you’d still have $30,000 in DK salary to fill your position-player spots.
Nathan Eovaldi ($5,300) at Houston Astros
Kathy Willens/Associated Press
Not many guys can run the ball up to the plate faster than Nathan Eovaldi. He hasn’t proved to be a strikeout pitcher yet, but facing the Houston Astros can help those numbers. No team in the majors has struck out as much as the Astros this season.
Eovaldi has been inconsistent, but he’s had only three poor fantasy starts this season. This will be the Astros’ first time facing Eovaldi, and that lack of familiarity will favor the man on the mound. Drafting Eovaldi would give you even more salary flexibility should you choose to—wait for it—draft Scherzer.
