Last place Red Sox lose Hanley Ramirez and Dustin Pedroia to injury
The Boston Red Sox nightmare season might be about to get even worse. In a win over the Orioles on Wednesday night the Red Sox lost two key players to injury, Hanley Ramirez and Dustin Pedroia.
Ramirez left with a bruised left hand and Pedroia with right hamstring tightness. Both players are undergoing testing Thursday and it appears the fate is worse for Pedroia, who is headed to the disabled list. Ramirez isn’t in the lineup for their Thursday afternoon finale against the Orioles either.

The Red Sox are in last place in the American League East with the second worst record in the AL, though they have won five of their last eight games. Losing two former All-Stars to the middle of their order for any length of time would be a major blow. Though it’s still too early determine how long they might be out.
“We’re still in the process of gathering all the information,” manager John Farrell said. ”There’s advanced imaging going on for Peddy and Hanley. The injuries are what everyone saw. We don’t have full information yet.”
What started to become clear on Thursday is that Pedroia’s injury may be more serious than Ramirez.
Pedroia leads the Red Sox with a .306 average, while Ramirez is the club leader in home runs (15), RBIs (38), and slugging percentage (.482).
The Red Sox recalled outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr., and shortstop Deven Marrero from Triple-A.
