NHL 2015-16 home openers set; when does Connor McDavid debut?
The NHL’s 30 teams released details for their home openers on Wednesday, with the rest of the 2015-16 schedule on its way on Thursday. Because really, in the 48 hours between the NHL Awards and the NHL Draft, the League really needed to fill time.
A couple of notes on the games announced:
* We assume Connor McDavid will make his debut for the Edmonton Oilers in St. Louis on Oct. 8, and then Hockey Jesus arrives in Edmonton on Oct. 15.
* Assuming he’s not suiting up for BU, Jack Eichel arrives in Buffalo on Oct. 8 against Ottawa.
* Mike Babcock’s Toronto Maple Leafs – this is still awkward to type – head to Detroit for the Red Wings home opener on Oct. 9. This should be fun.
* The Chicago Blackhawks raise their banner on Oct. 7 against the New York Rangers.
