Phillies’ Freddy Galvis lays down the perfect drag bunt
It’s become fashionable lately to blast the bunt, forever one of the staples of baseball fundamentals, but even the most ardent bunt bashers will have to admit this one was a thing of beauty.
With runners at first and second and no outs in the fourth inning of Monday’s Phillies-Yankees game, Phillies shortstop Freddy Galvis pushed a drag bunt down the third base line. The ball looked like it was going to go foul but it settled right on the chalk halfway between third and home. All Yankees third baseman Chase Headley could do was watch. Perfect execution.

Galvis ended up at first with a bunt single and the Phillies now had the bases loaded.
Philadelphia wasn’t all about small ball either. Galvis had another single and a double while third baseman Maikel Franco went 4-for-5 with two home runs and 5 RBIs as the Phillies topped the Yankees 11-8.
