Blue Jays OF Dalton Pompey avoids concussion in minors

(5:51 pm ET) Blue Jays outfielder Dalton Pompey, who was hit in the head by a pitch Monday night playing for Double-A New Hampshire, did not suffer a concussion, according to Blue Jays assistant general manager Tony LaCava.
Pompey won’t play Tuesday, but he is expected back in the New Hampshire lineup Wednesday, per National Post.
Pomey, who is considered a top-100 prospect by Baseball America and MLB.com, has had a tough season. He began the season with Toronto before being demoted to Triple-A Buffalo in early May. He was then sent to New Hampshire after batting just .209 in 23 games with Buffalo.
Pompey has been better since moving to Double-A. In fact, he hit safely in his first 13 games with New Hampshire before going hitless Monday. He was injured in his second at-bat Monday. Pompey is batting .333 with one triple, two doubles, four home runs and 13 RBI in 14 games at Double-A.
Braves RP Arodys Vizcaino (suspension) on rehab assignment

(5:31 pm ET) Braves right-handed reliever Arodys Vizcaino has started his minor-league rehab assignment. Vizcaino, who was suspended 80 games PED use, appeared in two games over the weekend for Double-A Mississippi.
Vizcaino has been out all season with the suspension. He is expected to be ready to join the Braves when his suspension is up. The Braves’ 80th game is scheduled for the beginning of July.
Blue Jays’ Saunders undergoes MRI Monday, another one in two weeks

(5:31 pm ET) Blue Jays outfielder Michael Saunders underwent an MRI on Monday, which indicated the bone bruise in his knee was healing well, per Sportsnet.ca. He will undergo another MRI in two weeks.
If bone bruise is gone in a few weeks, then he will begin baseball activities.

Mets RP Rafael Montero not ready to pitch

Montero has not pitched since April 28 because of a shoulder injury.
Mets recall C Johnny Monell from Triple-A on Tuesday

(5:19 pm ET) The Mets have recalled catcher Johnny Monell from Triple-A Las Vegas, the team announced on Tuesday. Monell will be available off the bench for the game against the Brewers in Milwaukee.
The 29-year-old spent 12 games with the Mets earlier this season, but has had most of his reps with Las Vegas. In 41 games at Triple-A, Monell is batting .374 with five home runs and 34 RBI.
Monell will take the roster spot of Travis d’Arnaud, who was placed on the disabled list on Tuesday.
White Sox 1B Adam LaRoche has raked Tuesday starter Pelfrey

(5:17 pm ET) If history is any indication, White Sox first baseman Adam LaRoche could be in a for a big night Tuesday against Minnesota right-hander Mike Pelfrey.
LaRoche is batting a ridiculous .688 (11-for-16) lifetime against Pelfrey with a home run and seven RBI.
Something has to give – LaRoche is also in a miserable slump overall. He has just four hits in his last 34 at-bats, though he did manage his first multi-hit game since June 10 on Monday night.
