Toronto lost to Baltimore on Sunday 13-9. They finished their homestand 3-2 and are 6-4 in their past 10 games. Tampa Bay was a 1-0 loser at Cleveland yesterday to conclude their road trip with a 4-1 record. They are 8-2 in their last 10 games.
The Rays have owned this series in the early going of 2015 and have a 6-1 advantage. They have an 8-2 lead in the last 10 encounters.
Hutchison was an 8-0 winner over the Mets in his last start, going 5.2 innings and striking out 5. He has 5 Q starts on the year.
Andriese was a winner in relief in his last appearance, a 5-0 win at Washington. He went 4 innings for the victory. This will be his 5th start of the year but he has reached the 5th inning only once as he gets stretched out from pitching in relief.
No one on the Blue Jays has more than 5 ABs vs. Andriese but they have had success against him in their limited exposure. 1B Justin Smoak is 2-2 with a HR and 2 RBIs while the rest of the lineup is 7-22 (.318) with 1 RBI vs. the right-hander.
Tampa Bay OF David DeJesus is 1-3 with a solo HR off of Hutchison while OF Kevin Kiermaier is 2-4 (.500). 3B Evan Longoria has seen Hutchison the most but is 0-10 against him with an RBI and a stolen base. The rest of the hitters to have faced the young right-hander before are a combined 2-11 (.182) against him.

We mulled this game over for a long time and decided that the total was the best play in this spot. Jays’ starter Drew Hutchison has been terrible on the road and hasn’t fared well against the Rays’ 2015 roster. He does get to miss Desmond Jennings who is 4 for 7 against him, but we can’t get past his performances at Tropicana Field where he has allowed 12 runs in 14 2/3 innings. Tampa Bay starter Matt Andriese didn’t in a spot start against Toronto back in April getting tagged with 2 runs in 3 2/3 innings.
