Mizzou says DL Harold Brantley “in good condition” following car accident
a Sunday car accident, the school said in a release Monday morning.
Missouri defensive lineman Harold Brantley is “in good condition and recovering nicely” followingAccording to Rex Sharp, Missouri’s associate athletic director for sports medicine and head athletic trainer for football, Brantley suffered a fractured left tibia, ligament damage to his left knee and multiple rib fractures. He had successful surgery on his injured leg Sunday night and will have surgery to repair his knee “at a later date.”
He is expected to make a full recovery and will be moved from Intensive Care to a regular room at the University of Missouri hospital on Tuesday.
Sharp said it’s “too early” to place a timetable on Brantley’s return to football-related activities.
“It’s too soon to put a timetable on a planned return to football activities, so we’re going to leave that open and focus all attention on helping Harold recover and get back to full health first,” Sharp said. “When that information becomes known, we’ll certainly share it with everyone.”
According to the Kansas City Star, the incident occurred at 1:55 p.m. Sunday. Brantley’s car “slid off the left side of the road, overcorrected and went off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail and overturned.” Mizzou women’s basketball player Maddie Stock was a passenger. She sustained minor injuries and was released from University Hospital on Sunday afternoon. Neither were wearing a seatbelt, highway patrol said.
Brantley, a senior, had 54 tackles, seven tackles for loss and five sacks for the Tigers last season.
