Troy lineman McCullers killed in car accident
Troy has confirmed that offensive lineman Corey McCullers was killed in a car accident on Saturday afternoon.
“The Troy Football Family is heartbroken today over the sudden loss of Corey McCullers,” coach Neal Brown said in a statement released by the school. “There is no greater tragedy than losing a young man with a bright future far too soon. Corey was a true Trojan who loved Troy University and his teammates. Our staff and players will always remember Corey’s work ethic and his positive attitude. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.”
The Montgomery Advertiser reports that McCuller’s was involved in a multi-vehicle accident. McCuller’s car hit another another vehicle and then ran into a parked travel trailer that was on the side of the road to fix a flat tire. The driver and two passengers in the car McCullers hit were transported to a local hospital for treatment, and McCullers was declared dead on the scene.
McCullers had joined Troy’s football team as a walk-on during his freshman year and spent the 2014 season on the scout team. He was only 19 years old.
