After bout of vertigo, Jason Day will play at U.S. Open on Saturday
After a scary collapse at the close of Friday’s round at the U.S. Open, Jason Day has confirmed that he will attempt to play on Saturday.
While walking at the ninth hole, his final hole of the second round, Day suddenly collapsed on Friday afternoon while walking past grandstands. Initially he appeared to have twisted an ankle, but reported to medics on-scene that he was suffering from vertigo. Day has battled the effects of vertigo for several years. He managed to finish out the hole, bogeying it, but looked unsteady doing so.
After time away from the course and consultation with his doctors, Day made the decision on Saturday morning to play, according to Golf Channel, saying he was “feeling much better.”
Day is tied for ninth, three strokes off the lead of Jordan Spieth and Patrick Reed. Day is slated to tee off at 1:55 p.m. Pacific time.
