Hard-luck New York Mets are now even losing to hockey teams
After six consecutive losing seasons, the New York Mets are off to an impressive start in 2015. At 36-32 they are leading the National League East over the preseason World Series favorite Washington Nationals.
But it’s hard to forget about all the losses and mismanagement of the past few years. That’s why when a television station reports that the Mets have lost to a hockey team, it’s still funny.
A CBS affiliate in New York got their Toronto sports teams mixed up on Thursday night and posted the following graphic:
As you can see, the Toronto Maple Leafs Twitter account immediately picked up on it – and also completely nailed it with ‘The Simpsons’ joke. Wins have been hard to come by for the Maple Leafs over the last, oh…decade, so it’s also nice to see them get a big one.
The Mets, of course, actually lost 7-1 to the Blue Jays in the finale of a four-game home-and-home series, which they split after each team won its two home games. Though, the Mets were outscored 15-1 in Toronto after taking the first two games at Citi Field.
