Alabama has exclusive negotiation rights for 2019 or 2020 Cowboys Classic

Alabama could be playing in the 2019 or 2020 Cowboys Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas thanks to a provision in its contract for theAccording to AL.com, which obtained the contract, Alabama will “negotiate exclusively with ESPN in good faith through August 31, 2015 in an effort to schedule a football game between Alabama and a non-conference opponent to be held on August 31, 2019 or September 5, 2020 at the (AT&T) Stadium.”
ESPN and Alabama will mutually decide on the opponent and Alabama will receive $6 million for its participation. The contract also states Alabama will receive “a minimum of $1,000,000 more than their opponent for the 2019 or 2020 game.”
Alabama already is scheduled to receive $4 million for the 2015 Cowboys Classic against Wisconsin at AT&T Stadium and $6.5 for the 2016 game against USC.
Florida and Michigan already are scheduled to play in the 2017 Cowboys Classic and LSU and Miami will play in the game in 2018.
According to AL.com, the contract also prevents Alabama from scheduling an opponent during the 2019 and 2020 seasons that would prevent it from playing the Cowboys Classic.
