Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Amy Reimann are engaged
NASCAR’s most popular driver is getting married.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. proposed to his girlfriend, Amy Reimann while the two were in Germany on Wednesday. She said yes.
Junior, 40, and Amy, along with his sister Kelley and her husband LW Miller are in Germany to trace the Earnhardt family roots. The trip was planned for an off weekend as the Sprint Cup Series doesn’t race until June 28 at Sonoma.
At Michigan last weekend, Junior said the trip was his first commercial flying experience since Sep. 11, 2001. He teased the engagement incredibly subtly when talking about the trip on Sunday too.
“My friends tell me I’m in for a treat, and just hopefully it’s just a good trip,” Junior said about flying commercially. “I’m taking my sister and LW, her husband, Larry Wayne, and Amy is going with me, of course, and the lead IT guy at JR Motorsports, Martin Frederick, he’s from Germany, so he’s going to go with us, as well, and really kind of help us understand how not to insult anybody.
“Should be a lot of fun, and I’m really looking forward to it. We should come back with some great stories. Hopefully I’ll get pictures, and we’ll certainly share.”
In April, the couple denied tabloid rumors that they had gotten married in a secret beach wedding.
Junior is currently 4th in the Sprint Cup Series points standings. He won in May at Talladega and is all but guaranteed to be a member of the Chase for the Sprint Cup in 2015.
