Indiana’s Antonio Allen suspended after felony drug charges
Indiana’s leading tackler in 2014 is suspended after he’s been charged with felonies relating to dealing drugs.
Safety Antonio Allen, who had 74 tackles last season, was arrested Tuesday. According to the Monroe County Jail, he was charged with dealing cocaine and heroin with a firearm. The two are Level 2 felonies.
But that’s not it. Here’s a list of all of the charges, per TheIndyChannel.com. It’s quite substantial:
A search warrant executed at a residence in the 400 block of East 19th Street led to the following preliminary charges against Allen:
• Two counts of dealing methamphetamine
• Two counts of dealing heroin
• One count of dealing cocaine
• One count of possession of heroin over 10 grams
• One count of possession of cocaine
• One count of maintaining a common nuisance
Per the Indianapolis Star, those convicted of Level 2 felonies can serve 10-30 years in prison.
Here’s Indiana’s statement about his suspension:
“Indiana University Athletics and the IU football program are aware of the arrest of junior defensive back Antonio Allen. Allen has been suspended from all football activities effective immediately. We will continue to gather facts, monitor the legal process, and take further action as the evolving situation warrants.”
Allen was a sophomore in 2014. He was a four-star recruit in the class of 2014 and the No. 5 recruit in the state of Indiana.
