Lightning’s Tyler Johnson calls broken wrist ‘disappointing’
Ben Bishop’s torn groin wasn’t the only injury the Lightning dealt with in the Stanley Cup Final. According to the Tampa Bay Times’ Joe Smith, forward Tyler Johnson had a broken right wrist. Ouch.
Per Johnson via Smith: “Disappointing, you want to give 100-percent, especially in situation like this, really not capable of doing that.”
Johnson said he suffered the issue early in the series. He only scored one goal and added one assist. He still ended up the playoffs’ leading scorer, but in the end when you play that much hockey, you’re not going to stay healthy the whole time.
Said Tampa coach Jon Cooper when asked about injuries:
“I think we stayed somewhat healthy. Then down the stretch things started not going our way in that department. But we’ll be the last team ever to say that’s an excuse why we lost.”
