Cardinals issue statement about Astros hack, say pretty much nothing
the bombshell New York Times story that alleges someone in their organization hacked into the Houston Astros’ internal database.
The St. Louis Cardinals issued a statement Tuesday aboutSince this is a really big deal — the FBI is investigating, and it’s being called the first known case of corporate espionage involving two pro sports teams — nobody should have expected to hear anything meaningful from the Cardinals in their lets-get-this-out-of-the-way statement to the public.
And we didn’t. It’s as plain as can be. But here’s the statement:
“The St. Louis Cardinals are aware of the investigation into the security breach of the Houston Astros’ database. The team has fully cooperated with the investigation and will continue to do so. Given that this is an ongoing federal investigation, it is not appropriate for us to comment further.”
No blame here. Better to say nothing meaningful than come out swinging like early-Deflate-gate Robert Kraft and say something that will make be recycled and poked fun at for months.
