Cup Final Game 6 tickets going for up to $71K
Want to see Game 6 in Chicago? Take out a second mortgage. (USATSI)
Even though the Chicago Blackhawks have won two Stanley Cups since 2010, they haven’t lifted one of the most famous trophies in sports on home ice since 1938. After beating the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 5 2-1 Saturday night, the Blackhawks will have a chance to do just that in Game 6 Monday as Chicago now holds a 3-2 series advantage.
With the possibility of the team hoisting the Cup at the United Center, demand is already pushing ticket prices way up on the secondary market.
As of this writing, the cheapest standing-room only ticket on StubHub.com is $1,029.49. That’s where you’re starting from to stand up for the entire game really far away, and likley with an obstructed view.
There’s plenty of goofy ticket prices right now, too, with people essentially asking buyers to sink their life savings into three (or more) hours of hockey.
The most expensive ticket being offered on StubHub.com is $71,827.39. That’s also for a standing-room ticket, so that may be someone having a little fun. There are seats along the glass being offered for $25,000 per ticket. Maybe those are the prices because people aren’t serious about selling their tickets unless someone made them an offer they couldn’t refuse. $25K would be tough to turn down.
Here’s a sampling of some other prices.

Over at TiqIQ.com, tickets range from $930 to nearly $6,000. According to TiqIQ’s blog, Blackhawks ticket prices shot up to an average price of $2,200 on the secondary market almost immediately after they tied the series in Game 4. That made Game 6 a potential clinching game. Now that it’s confirmed that it is the Blackhawks who have the chance to clinch, expect that number to continue rising.
If you’re a fan in Chicago, you have to decide at this point if you want to see the Blackhawks possibly win the Cup for the third time in six years or send your kids to the college of their choice. On the other hand, you’d be making a significant contribution to the seller’s children’s college fund. Someone gets to live their dream then. Choose wisely.
