Delton Williams not currently enrolled at Michigan State
Michigan State running back Delton Williams is not enrolled at the school.
A Michigan State spokesperson told MLive.com that Williams was not enrolled for the summer session or enrolled in any future semesters. Williams has been suspended indefinitely since a March traffic incident. He allegedly pulled out a gun after a man honked at him. Williams had a concealed weapons permit.
He was charged with brandishing a firearm in public. His accuser wrote the police a letter asking for the charge to be dropped and in April, Williams pled guilty to a reduced weapons charge. As part of the guilty plea he had to forfeit his concealed carry permit and not seek another permit in any other state.
Williams is set to be sentenced in December. His attorney told MLive that the case could be dismissed if there are no further incidents involving his client.
Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis said last week that any decision to bring back Williams to the football team would be a “collective” one.
“It will not be [coach Mark Dantonio]’s decision,” Hollis said via MLive. “I think any time you have an issue like that it’s a collective decision.”
Williams had 326 rushing yards and five touchdowns in 2014 and was a candidate to have a much bigger role within the Michigan State offense in 2015.
