Carlos Correa gets first MLB hit, impresses with his glove in Astros debut
as the Chicago White Sox won 3-1.
Carlos Correa’s MLB debut could have been better — his Houston Astros ran into a dominant Chris Sale, who struck out 14 hitters and only give up five hits and one run,But that RBI and one of those hits belonged to Correa, the No. 1 pick in the 2012 draft, who roared through the minors and arrived in the big leagues Monday at 20 years old. We’ve seen players with a lot of hype get promoted already this year to varying results and while Correa’s debut wasn’t as awe-inspiring as Joey Gallo’s last week, it was a nice portrait of what he can do.

Correa beat out an infield single and allowed Jonathan Villar to score in the fourth inning. Correa was originally called out, even though it was pretty obvious he beat the throw to first. He came out of the batter’s box quick, hustled down the line with two outs and beat the throw to the bag.

The best is yet to come for Correa, no doubt, but his first MLB game was a nice preview.
