MLB Draft 2015: Possible picks with N.J. ties – NJ.com
The 2015 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft will begin Monday in Secaucus, opening a three-day, 40-round process.
Between high school players, players from in-state colleges and players with ties to the state playing elsewhere, New Jersey accounted for 31 picks in total during last year’s MLB Draft.
N.J. AND THE MLB DRAFT:
• 2014: St. Augustine’s Gatto goes in 2nd round to Angels
• 2013: St. Joseph star Kaminsky picked in 1st round by Cardinals
That number seems likely to fall a bit this season, however, as the current high school class is not a strong as it was a year ago in terms of draftable prospects, although New Jersey does have three high school athletes ranked in Baseball America’s Top 500 prospects.
Click through the slideshow above for a look at some of the potential players with New Jersey ties, both from high school and college, that could hear their names called over the next three days.
