Phil Mickelson gives $99 tip to kids at neighborhood lemonade stand
Phil Mickelson is known to be an excellent tipper, but 6-year-old Roland Van Karsen and his 8-year-old sister Elise didn’t know that when the five-time major winner showed up to their lemonade stand near Memorial site Muirfield Village Golf Club on Thursday.
Mickelson ordered up a $1 glass of sunshine and paid with a $100 bill. Keep the change, Mickelson said, according to the Columbus Dispatch. The money made the kids’ week.
This isn’t uncommon for ole Johnny Benjaminseed. According to ESPN.com’s Jason Sobel, one PGA Tour player said Mickelson hands out hundos to tournament workers at least 10 times each week.
