(8:56 pm ET) The Astros have demoted reliever Jake Buchanan to Triple-A Fresno to make room on their roster for Carlos Correa.
Buchanan, who arrived on May 14, pitched just nine innings over the last three-plus weeks. He allowed two runs on five hits.

(8:46 pm ET) The Astros have announced the promotion of prized shortstop prospect Carlos Correa. He will join the team Monday against the host White Sox.
The 20-year-old Correa has not missed a beat ascending through the system. Despite a late-May slump, he boasts a slash line of .332/.404/.602 with 10 home runs and 43 RBI in 211 at-bats at Double-A and Triple-A combined.
The Astros have certainly needed an upgrade at that position since Jed Lowrie went down in late April.
Giants SP Jake Peavy (back) will make another rehab start

(8:42 pm ET) Giants starting pitcher Jake Peavy will make another rehab start for Triple-A Sacramento next week, per Sean Cunningham of News10.
Peavy struck out five batters in 4 1/3 innings in a rehab start on Saturday.
Peavy has been limited to 7 1/3 innings this season for the Giants due to a lingering back injury.
Eric Campbell homers, steals two bases in Mets’ win

(8:31 pm ET) Mets third baseman Eric Campbell hit a two-run go-ahead home run in the second inning of Sunday’s win over Arizona.
Campbell went 2 for 4 and scored twice. He now has two home runs and 10 RBI.
Campbell also stole two bases, giving him four on the year.
Mets Curtis Granderson goes deep twice in win

Granderson led off the game with a home run and went deep again in the fifth. He now has eight home runs on the season and 19 RBI.
Jeurys Familia saves 17th for Mets

(8:27 pm ET) Mets closer Jeurys Familia earned his 17th save of the year on Sunday, against Arizona.
Familia pitched a perfect ninth inning, retiring the side on nine pitches, six strikes. He protected a three-run lead and lowered his ERA to 1.30.
Fernando Rodney out for now as Mariners closer

(8:27 pm ET) Lloyd McClendon has declared that Fernando Rodney is out as closer for the Mariners. It remains to be seen how long he will be removed from that role.
McClendon said Sunday that if his team needed a closer, it would not be Rodney. Carson Smith served in that capacity Saturday night and recorded his first career save.
Rodney, who owns a 6.94 ERA with three blown saves in 17 opportunities, has been working with pitching coach Rick Waits and bullpen coach Mike Rojas. McClendon told the Tacoma News-Tribune that Rodney is trying to “break down some things, and [trying] to get it straightened out.”
Smith is not the lone candidate to close in his absence. McClendon also mentioned Charlie Furbush and Mark Lowe as possibilities.
Josh Collmenter loses third straight for Diamondbacks

(8:25 pm ET) Diamondbacks starter Josh Collmenter lost his third straight decision, Sunday against the Mets.
Collmenter gave up five runs on nine hits over six innings, dropping to 3-6 on the year. He walked one, struck out one, and gave up four home runs.
Collmenter’s next start is Saturday, against San Francisco.
Jacob deGrom earns win for Mets

Degrom went seven innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on five hits. He walked three and struck out 10.
Degrom’s next start is Saturday, against Atlanta.
Nationals SS Ian Desmond nails fifth homer Sunday

(8:08 pm ET) Nationals shortstop Ian Desmond has a long way to go to get on pace to equal his typical home run totals, but he took a step in the right direction Sunday.
He blasted his fifth, a two-run shot in the second inning off Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks, to give his team a 2-1 lead. It was his first homer since May 20.
Desmond, who has averaged 23 home runs over the past three seasons, has just five hits in his last 35 at-bats.
