Jason Dufner threatening PGA Tour record for single-event eagles
Jason Dufner is on a bit of a roll early on in the Memorial Tournament.
Through his first 25 holes, Dufner has made four eagles, including going back-to-back with them on Friday at Muirfield Village.
First, Dufner, playing back to front in Round 2, made an eagle at the par-5 15th with two impressive shots at the uphill hole, ending with a 6-foot eagle putt for a 3 in back-to-back days. A hole later at the par-3 16th, which features plenty of troublesome water, Dufner made a hole-in-one from 201 yards to a hole location tucked to the left over the water.
Add those two eagles to the 66-foot eagle putt he made on 15 on Thursday for eagle and another on the par-5 fifth, and Dufner is close to the PGA Tour mark for most eagles in a 72-hole event: five.
Should Dufner go on to win, he’d be the second player this season to make a hole-in-one and win. Dustin Johnson made an ace at Doral en route to a March win in the WGC-Cadillac Championship.
