“This will be a time for me to allow my brain and body a chance to heal,” Davis added. “Many won’t understand my decision, that’s ok.”

by Ruben Palacios | Staff Writer
(2:21 pm ET) Running back Shane Veeren had a lot of options in free agency. The market is usually big for good players coming off a championship, per csnne.com.
Vereen fielded a number of offers from NFL teams but quickly decided the Giants were the best fit for him.
“There were other offers, but I felt like this was the right fit for me. I felt like this was the right place for me. And I haven’t looked back yet,” Vereen said. “It’s been a learning process, but it’s been fun. I couldn’t even tell you [how many offers I had] because it all happened so fast. Free agency opened and then by about noon West Coast time I was going to be a Giant. It happened so quickly, so I don’t even know if there was much thought process. There were a couple offers, but once I head the Giants were interested, I was very interested as well.”

Texans RB Dexter McCluster hopes awful 2014 won’t be repeated
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1:35 pm ET) When a team suffers through a 2-14 season, many of its players are inevitably considered disappointments. Such was certainly the case with Titans running back Dexter McCluster in 2014.
McCluster was supposed to bring versatility to the position as both a ball carrier and pass-catcher. But he not only wasn’t given much of an opportunity, he did little with those he received. He managed just 131 yards on 40 carries for a 3.3 average and snagged 26 passes for 197 yards.
Like many of his teammates, he has expressed confidence that all will be better this season. “Right now, I know the plays, I know what I have to do,” he told ESPN. “I know who I have to read and I’m feeling a lot more comfortable.”
McCluster has some competition for that role from Bishop Sankey and rookie David Cobb. McCluster could play a significant part in the return game, but he struggled with that task a year ago as well.
Colts DE Kendall Langford embracing 3-4 scheme
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1:20 pm ET) Towering Colts defensive end and 2015 free agent addition Kendall Langford is not just thrilled to be with his new team. He is thrilled to be back in a defensive alignment he believes best suits his skill set.
Langford chose Indianapolis in part because of its 3-4 scheme.
“I like a good, old 3-4 defense,” he told the team website. “I’m very comfortable with what we’re doing. I feel like I’m back at home in a 3-4 scheme. I’m excited about it.”
Langford, who has has played in all 112 games with Miami and St. Louis since entering the NFL in 2008, has just 15.5 career sacks. But Chuck Pagano does not envision him as only a run-stopper.
“He’s shown in some of these 11-on-11 drills that he’s got some pass rush capabilities, will get push inside,” Pagano said.
