Jaguars tackle Brennan Williams close to full health

(10:33 pm ET) Jaguars offensive tackle Brennan Williams is just about all healed and ready to go for the 2015 season. Williams, drafted in 2013, missed his entire rookie season following microfracture knee surgery. 

But Williams participated in the team’s first OTA on May 26, and he said he felt good.

“I felt like a baby giraffe out there,” Williams said, per Jacksonville.com. “That was my first practice in about two years.

“I feel like I am now finally getting close to 100 percent,” Williams said. “I’m at the tail end of the rehab period for the surgery that I had, which is an eight-or-nine month rehab period. I’m feeling great.”

Broncos RB C.J. Anderson upset with playoff performance

(9:53 pm ET) Broncos running back C.J. Anderson appeared to be giving it his all in last year’s divisional round playoff game against the Colts. 

He ran for 80 tough yards on 18 carries in what ended up being a 24-13 loss. Looking back on it, Anderson is upset at himself that he didn’t give more that game. 

“I was watching the playoff game last week and I left a lot out there. I left a lot out there,” Anderson told the Broncos’ official website. “A lot of people came to me and said, ‘You played so hard. You did this.’ Man, that was unacceptable. I had 24 touches and I didn’t get in the end zone to help my team win.”

Anderson will be in a new offensive system this year, which should actually benefit him even more. With Gary Kubiak as Denver’s new head coach, the zone running scheme could open up even more lanes for the young runner. 

Anderson finished the 2014 regular season with 849 yards and eight touchdowns, with most of those over the last half of the season when he assumed the starting role. 

“You don’t want to be a one-year wonder in this league, not at all,” Anderson said. “No one wants to do that. I’m going to keep my head down, keep grinding every day and keep pushing. What happened last year happened last year. That’s completely over and done with.”

Report: Saints LB Junior Galette dealing with pectoral injury

(6:57 pm ET) Saints linebacker Junior Galette recently sustained an injury to his pectoral, sources told FoxSports.com.

Galette is currently deciding his options for the injury, including surgery. Galette did not participate in the team’s OTA on Thursday. He produced 10 sacks and 45 tackles for the Saints last season.

Broncos backup QB Brock Osweiler has impressed in OTA’s

(5:37 pm ET) Broncos quaterback Brock Osweiler doesn’t get a lot of reps. It’s not his fault, he just happens to back up legendary passer Peyton Manning.

Osweiler has gotten a chance to participate more often this offseason because the Broncos are giving their veterans more off days, and he has been impressive.

“He has a lot more command,” said running back C.J. Anderson. “He wants to go out there and play. He’s been confident and comfortable, and he knows what he can do. He trusts his ability.”

Osweiler, who has been Manning’s backup for three seasons now, has continued to mature as an NFL quarterback despite only playing in 13 career games.

“I’ve always been impressed with Brock and his composure and how he commands the huddle,” tight end Virgil Green said. “The more and more you play in the league, the more confident you get and the more composure you have out there.”

Raiders continue to add, cut players before mandatory minicamp

(5:16 pm ET) The Raiders were busy on Thursday as they continued to alter their roster before the start of manadatory minicamp, Adam Caplan of ESPN.com reports.

The team cut tight end Scott Simonson and linebackers Jacoby Hale and Miles Burris.

Oakland added wide receiver Kris Durham and linebacker Chase Williams. 

Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston described as ‘quiet’ during OTA’s

(4:55 pm ET) Jameis Winston gets described in a number of different ways. “Quiet” is rarely the adjective used to descrive the top-overall pick in this year’s draft. 

Buccaneers receiver Vincent Jackson says the rookie hasn’t been the outspoken person many know him to be yet at organized team activities, per The Tampa Tribune.

Winston won the Heisman Trophy at Florida State while leading the team to a national title as a redshirt freshman two seasons ago.

Steelers LB Lawrence Timmons willing to rework contract

(4:33 pm ET) In order to retire with the team, Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons said he would be willing to renegotiate his contract, reports ESPN.com.

“I’ve been here for nine years, I’ve got a house here, I’d like to keep that house,” he said. “I’ve got a family here that loves it.”

Timmons, 29, has played his entire eight-year career with the Steelers. He said the key to staying with the Steelers will be his performance on the field.

“Week in and week out, you have to come with it,” Timmons said. “This game is unforgiving. I love the competition. I feel I’m a great competitor.”

Giants’ rookie Ereck Flowers gets warned this season can get ugly

(4:23 pm ET) The Giants drafted offensive tackle Ereck Flowers with the ninth overall pick in this year’s draft with a plan to slowly mold him along. Those plans were scraped when veteran Will Beatty tore a pectoral muscle, pushing Flowers to fill his void, per ESPN.com.

Flowers started at left tackle while at the University of Miami, but his new teammates are letting him know early on that there are going to be huge differences now.

“You have to understand that it’s going to get ugly,” said teammate Marshall Newhouse, a five-year NFL veteran who started 29 games at tackle for the Packers in 2011-12. “You look at the tape of the guys playing tackle in these college spread offenses, and it looks real pretty. You get out on your block, one-on-one with your guy, and you lock him up and it all works. But up here, when you look at the tape at the end of a play — even one that was blocked well, with everybody doing their job — and it looks ugly.”

Talent alone won’t get Flowers very far when the NFL season kicks off, something that in college would have gotten him very far.

“You have to bring your A-game every day,” Giants guard Geoff Schwartz said. “If you have any technique issues, especially when you’re young, they’ll expose that. There are guys up here whose only job is to rush the passer, and they have tape on you, and if you have a technique flaw, they’re studying you and they’re going to find it.”

Broncos sign TE Jeff Heuerman

(4:08 pm ET) The Broncos officially signed all of their 2015 draft picks when they agreed to terms with tight end Jeff Heuerman on Thursday, the team announced.

Heuerman was a third-round pick this year, but he will miss the entire 2015 season after he suffered a torn ACL.

Vikings CB Captain Munnerlyn out of OTA’s with foot injury

(3:40 pm ET) Vikings cornerback Captain Munnerlyn was a no-go during organized team activities on Thursday, per 1500espn.com.

Munnerlyn was seen with a walking boot at the team facility. He apparently injured his foot last week during OTA’s and tried practicing through the pain but ultimately needed a MRI.

“Come Monday, I couldn’t run,” Munnerlyn said. “I was like ‘Oh, man, what’s going on.'”

Munnerlyn is aiming to be back by the start of mandatory minicamp in a few weeks, but that he at least expects to be healthy by training camp. 

“Hope so,” Munnerlyn said. “So I can get out of here in the summer. If not, stay here, rehab and be ready to roll for training camp.”
