John Harbaugh: Dennis Pitta “doing a good job” in practice
In late April, Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta said he was optimistic about his chances of resuming his NFL career this season after suffering serious hip injuries in each of the last two years.
It doesn’t look like anything that’s happened over the last month has dimmed that optimism. Pitta continues to do individual work at Ravens OTAs with Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com reporting that he’s looking “much more fluid” running routes and catching passes than he did earlier in the year. That’s left coach John Harbaugh feeling good about where Pitta is at this point in the process.
“Dennis is out there for about half the practice and he’s doing a good job, too, so we’re not counting him out at all,” Harbaugh said.
At some point, there will have to be a decision about whether Pitta starts training camp on the field or if he goes onto the PUP list to buy more time for his rehab. The latter may be appealing given Pitta’s injuries, but the wraps are going to have to come off at some point in the not too distant future for the Ravens and Pitta to find out if a return to the field is a realistic option for the 2015 season.

The Ravens fan in me wants to see Pitta return to the field and rebuild the rapport he has with Flacco.
The human being in me wants Pitta to never set foot on a football field again and be much more concerned about his long-term health and safety.
Good to see Pitta doing well. After having snatched Maxx Williams from the Steelers, and with Gilmore who burned Pittsburgh for a big TD, Ravens are in position to let their TEs dominate the AFCN.
Flacco will never make a Pro Bowl. perennial 3rd place finishers
2 dislocated hips, one off of non contact.
That’s gotta hurt.
Hope the dude is alright, he seems like a pretty nice guy off the field.
If Pitta is able to come back healthy, this is the best TE tandem in the NFL.
Here comes Maxximus and AmEx!
Flacco will never make a Pro Bowl. perennial 3rd place finishers
Flacco made the pro bowl last year but declined to go because his wife was giving birth to their second child.
So you were saying?
If Pitta comes back the Ravens may use the first 4 TE set in NFL history!
Rare to see Ravens news on this site.

Wake up, wake up troll you are asleep at your keyboard! Pitta will be lucky if he lasts two games. Now keep dreaming about the Steelers letting the Ravens grab Williams…but the nightmare of the Steelers snatching Dupree is gonna wake you up…pleasant dreams sparky.
Pitta? Like Heap, just an overrated tight end whose worth is overestimated by Baltimore’s fanbase. One of Flacco’s throws will get the guy on IR in no time.
No running game.
No wideouts.
Just Joe Flacco.
Yeah Ravens fans, should be an interesting year.
Fortunately, Ravens don’t have the league’s second highest paid QB bleeding the team dry like Big Ben. Nor does it have to rely solely on an old, broken down TE like Miller. With Williams, Gilmore, Pitta, and Boyle, the team is in prime position to make a SB run, knocking the Steelers out of the way will be the easy part. Just ask Tim Tebow.
When your team is 3-6 against Joe & The Ravens, since ’11. Haven’t won a playoff game since then. And, watch Joe win 6 playoff games, including a SB? To win the argument, I would bring up “no running game”, “no wide outs”, “perennial 3rd place”. Yea, make stuff up. Hope that makes you fell better.
Steelers “snatched” Dupree, just like they snatched Shazier last year. Good luck with that.
I truly believe that if Dupree were there at 26 the Ravens would of indeed grabbed him. Ozzie and Decosta both said as much.
Now I’m not upset about Perriman but if you think the Steelers weren’t going to grab Maxx Williams you’re out of your mind. Especially for a tiny corner projected to go in the third round at best.
Also everyone is quick to scream “Jump Ball Joe!” when talking about Flacco so in order to combat that the Steelers drafted a 5’8″ corner to match up with Marlon Brown, Maxx Williams, Pitta, Boyle, Gilmore, and Waller in the slot.
Fun fact; the shortest receiver on that list is 6’4″ so good luck with that jump ball you keep screaming about.
Some facts to chew on:
Since 2000, Ozzie Newsome has had the luxury of having 7 top 10 draft picks and has endured 6 losing seasons. Kevin Colbert has only had 1 top 10 draft pick and only suffered 1 losing season in the same time period. In the same period, the Steelers have won 7 division titles to the Ravens 4, 3 AFC Championships to the Ravens 2, equal in Super Bowl wins.
Some turf to chew on:
During the WC, Big Ben is pile driven into the ground by Courtney Upshaw and Elvis Dumervil.
hey jb. you do realize that joe and the third place ravens went into heinz field last january and pretty muched mopped the floor with big ben and the first place steelers. and if you want to talk about bad game ending interceptions, agai, see big ben at heinz field last january. and please stop saying you lost because bell didnt play. You cant talk about ben and the receivers all the time and make excuses to support you arguements. the steelers won the division. The ravens won the playoff game. Oh, and if he is just jumpball joe, then please, why do the ravens make the playoffs every year but one since joe has come into the league. Joe flacco is a very good qb…and so is ben. so please, come up with new material.

Since 2000 would be Jamal Lewis at 5, Travis Taylor at 10, Suggs at 10, and the pick they traded away before taking Joe at 18. So that’s 4 players.
4. Not 7
Now since 2000 they had a losing season in 2002, 2005 and 2007. So that’s 3 years with none coming in the Harbaugh era (2008-on).
3. Not 6.
For a fan base that’s so proud of screaming their number of trophies you’d think they’d be better at math.
Ravens fans trying to talk themselves into thinking they have an NFL level offense… ok. Crocket Gilmore is your great hope? Haha good luck with that.
To the guy who will say anything to get a reaction… Joe Flaccos cap hit next year is $28.5m, which is #1 in the NFL by well over $1m and it only gets worse from there. Please don’t bring up a “simple restructure” because Ravens fans have been blasting the Steelers for doing that for years. But, when the shoe is on the other foot right?
Sorry that facts hurt so much.
hakunamangata, can you really say Flacco made the Probowl? He wasn’t any of the 6 top QBs that won the vote, and how many QBs had to pass or drop out due to injury or the SB?

Sorry Soobies05 but the reality is you won because Bell wasn’t there to deny that is blatant homer ism. Be happy that you won but distorting the game by saying mopping is a bit of an exaggeration. Ben was not able to reproduce his six td game, but to me it wasn’t as bad as you make it sound. Without your best QB protector and back on pass routs it’s hard to beat a good defense like the Ravens.
The Ravens had 16 players on IR last season, so please stop with the “b-but Bell wasn’t playing” defense. It’s quite sad.
Sorry fool. But to say Ravens won because Bell wasn’t there? Now that’s blatant homer ism right there.
I personally don’t think that letting Torey Smith walk will be as big a hindrance to the Ravens offense as some of my fellow Pittsburgh fans seem to. Perriman has plenty of speed to stretch a field, and even if he’s still raw running routes, it isn’t like Smith was particularly polished.
Getting Pitta back onto the field would be more or less a security blanket because after two hip surgeries, it is a little unrealistic to think of him as a game breaker any longer.
As far as the “no running game” goes, the Ravens managed 2019 yards in 2014, where as my beloved franchise ran the ball for 1605. The Ravens spread the ball around more in the backfield because their former star running back had a few off field troubles, as you may have heard, while the majority of rushing yards from the black and gold came from Bell, who I think we can all agree is a dynamic player.
2015 should be a fun year for football because the Steelers defense has finally gotten younger to go with a dynamic offense, and the Ravens have some youth on the offensive side to go with a stout defense.
At least we can all agree that the Browns are going to be terrible.
Sorry fool. But to say Ravens won because Bell wasn’t there? Now that’s blatant homer ism right there.
SORRY jack. You won the game you can afford to be honest it won’t break you.
I gave you a thumbs up steelerben.
