Alex Killorn opens scoring in Game 1 with amazing deflection (Video)
The Tampa Bay Lightning came out aggressive early in the first period in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. Alex Killorn had the best chance within the game’s opening minute, but his shot went wide of the Chicago Blackhawks net.
But Killorn wouldn’t have to wait long to capitalize on an opportunity. Just 4:31 into the first period, he notched his eighth of the postseason after a sweet, sweet deflection:
Do they teach hand-eye coordination like that at Harvard? Also, great work by Valtteri Filppula to win that puck battle with Duncan Keith, which led to Anton Stralman’s shot on goal, which itself was deflected on the way to the net.
While the Lightning would love for their bottom six to get going offensively, Killorn’s goal means Tampa’s top six has scored 45 of their 50 goals this postseason.
