Four-star LB Roquan Smith picks Georgia after spurning UCLA – SportingNews.com
Roquan Smith is officially a Georgia Bulldog, ending a coast-to-coast recruiting saga that garnered national attention for the 4-star linebacker.
Smith on Friday posted a picture of his signed grant-in-aid on his Instagram account, along with a lengthy statement thanking his family, coaches, teammates and supporters.

“As you could imagine it’s been tough lately, But I am relieved to say that I am officially committed to The University Of Georgia 100%,” Smith wrote.
He later added on Twitter:

The move came a week and a half after Smith declared on ESPNU on National Signing Day that he would sign with UCLA.
But Smith never signed his letter of intent with the Bruins, revealing that he was angered by a UCLA assistant coach telling him he had declined an offer to join the Atlanta Falcons’ staff – before taking the job days later.
The Montezuma, Ga., product reopened his recruiting, listing Georgia, Michigan and Texas A&M as possibilities, before picking the Bulldogs on Friday.
Smith said in the interim that he would not sign a letter of intent, just a grant-in-aid, and it appears he has followed through on that.
