The Cleveland Cavaliers and Chicago Bulls square off Thursday night at the United Center.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have won 14 of their last 15 games and begin a four-game road trip. On the season, the Cavs are averaging 102 points on 45.5 percent shooting and are allowing 99.2 points on 45.8 percent shooting. LeBron James is averaging 26 points and 7.4 assists while Kyrie Irving is averaging 21.9 points and 5.2 rebounds. J.R. Smith is shooting 41.5 percent from the field and Timofey Mozgov is grabbing 8.5 rebounds. The Cleveland Cavaliers are allowing just 42.1 percent shooting from the field in their last five games. While the Cavs offense gets a lot of credit, it’s their defense that’s made the biggest difference during this impressive run. Kevin Love is questionable for this game with an eye injury.
USA TODAY Sports
The Chicago Bulls are climbing up the standings with wins in three straight games. On the season, the Bulls are averaging 102 points on 44.4 percent shooting and are allowing 99.1 points on 44.1 percent shooting. Derrick Roseis averaging 18.7 points and five assists while Pau Gasol is averaging 18.4 points and 12.2 rebounds. Aaron Brooks is dishing 2.7 assists and Taj Gibson is shooting 48.5 percent from the field. The Chicago Bulls are allowing just 43 percent shooting from the field and 28.2 percent shooting from deep in their last five games. The Bulls have proven they’re at their best when they dig deep on defense and don’t shy away from their identity like they have earlier in the year. Kirk Hinrich and Jimmy Butler are both questionable for this game.
The Cavaliers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 vs. NBA Central and 11-3 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The Bulls are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 home games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers are 4-10 ATS in the last 14 meetings.
A rested Chicago Bulls at home against a Cavs team that is on the back end of a back-to-back and likely won’t have Love? I’ll take the Bulls in this spot with rather high confidence.
Chicago Bulls +1
