Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook owned Friday night. However, there were also some standout performances from Marcus Morris, Greg Monroe and Tobias Harris. Let’s get right to the action.

Davis sinks Thunder

Anthony Davis hit a game-winning buzzer-beating three-pointer on Friday to bury Oklahoma City on Friday night. Davis’ heroic efforts capped a tremendous game in which he scored 41 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Despite dealing with a groin injury last week, Davis has shown no signs of slowing down. He’s locked in as a top fantasy player for the foreseeable future. Teammate Tyreke Evans also had a fantastic game, notching his first triple-double of the season with 22 points, 10 boards, and 16 assists.

The Thunder contingent wasn’t half bad either. Kevin Durant returned from a toe injury and despite his poor 9-26 shooting, he still managed 27 points, five boards, four assists, and three triples. Russell Westbrook was insane, scoring a season-high 48 points with nine boards and 11 assists. He also added four steals and was a perfect 15-15 from the charity stripe. Westbrook outdid himself for the second straight game with this performance. The point guard set a season-high on Wednesday with 45 points so this showing was especially rewarding. Owners can just continue to ride the awesome wave that is Westbrook.

Pacers trio snaps Cavs winning streak

The combination of George Hill, C.J. Miles, and David West was enough to break the Cavaliers 12-game winning streak. Miles led the way with 26 points, his highest scoring output since December, while West had a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds. George Hill only hit three shots but finished with 20 points thanks to his 12-15 free-throw shooting. He added seven assists to round out a nice line.

On the losing end Kevin Love was abysmal, scoring just five points with eight boards in 33 minutes of action. LeBron James was better with 25 points, six boards and five assists but he also had seven turnovers. Kyrie Irving was the best of the bunch with 29 points, five assists, and three triples.

Warriors’ shine in loss

Draymond Green grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds, adding 12 points but the Warriors lost to the Hawks thanks to a nice team effort from Jeff Teague and Al Horford in particular. However, despite the real life loss, in the fantasy world the Warriors were winners. In addition to Green’s great night, Klay Thompson shined with 29 points, five assists, and four triples. Stephen Curry added 26 points, nine assists, and four triples as well.

The other Morris

Marcus Morris tore it up on Friday going for a career-high 34 points with five triples as Phoenix defeated Utah. Morris added 12 boards, two steals, and one block to complete a memorable night. This was his best game since December so don’t run to pick him up. His brother Markieff Morris is a much better option every other night of the week.

On the flip side, Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors led the way for the Jazz. Hayward had 24 points, five boards, and five assists while Favors went for 20 points, five boards, and three assists. Neither of those lines is particularly shocking and neither was Rudy Gobert’s 14 and 12. The big man has continued to provide great fantasy numbers despite coming off the bench for the Jazz.

Rockets launch three-point barrage

The Rockets nailed 15 three-pointers on Friday, nine of which came from James Harden and Trevor Ariza, as Houston trumped Milwaukee. Harden finished with 33 points and five assists while Ariza had 24, his third straight high-end output. Josh Smith actually had a sneaky great line off the bench. He finished with 14 points, 10 boards, eight assists, and four triples. Smith has actually been spreading the wealth as of late, providing owners with a wide array of stats but nothing earth-shattering in any category.

On the other side of the court, Alphabet City, Giannis Antetokounmpo filled it up with 27 points on 11-16 shooting, with 15 rebounds, and four assists. The Greek freak is coming off a 25-point effort on Wednesday so he’s either ready to pounce on the fantasy world or a fantastic sell-high candidate. Either way, you’re getting value.  

20/20 for Greg

Greg Monroe had 21 points and 21 rebounds as the Pistons beat the Nuggets on Friday. This was Monroe’s second 20 plus rebound performance of the year and his first 20/20 game. The big man has been so much better since Josh Smith’s departure and is continuing to provide owners with quality returns. However, Monroe wasn’t the only Piston player to make fantasy waves. Andre Drummond notched a double-double of 13 points, 13 boards, and two blocks. D.J. Augustin also had a superb outing of 22 points and 11 assists.

Tobias Time

The Magic edged out the Lakers on Friday as a trio of Orlando’s finest notched big lines. Tobias Harris had a huge game, scoring 34 points on 14-18 shooting, adding seven boards, two assists, one steal, one block, and two triples. After finishing January in a funk, Harris has started out February hot, averaging over 25 points per game so far. Nikola Vucevic also chipped in a fine line of 25 points and 13 boards while Victor Oladipo added a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Ryan Kelly got the starting nod during the game and exploded for 20 points on five triples. He’s spent time in the D-League this season and this was by far his highest scoring output of the year. If he continues to get minutes he could be useful but it’s probably better to ignore him.

DeRozan nears triple-double

The Raptors took care of the Clippers on Friday thanks in large part to DeMar DeRozan who banged in 26 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. He added two steals to fill out a complete fantasy line. This was the first time the shooting guard scored over 20 points since last Friday, having logged three straight mediocre outputs in between.  Despite his low scoring numbers as of late, his assist and steal output is up in the month of February.

Blake Griffin, Chris Paul and Jamal Crawford all scored over 20 for the Clippers but it wasn’t enough.

Rubio looking like his old self

Ricky Rubio scored eight points late in the fourth quarter, finishing with 17 points, as the Wolves stunned the Grizzlies on Friday. The point guard tweaked his problematic left ankle with six minutes left in the game and jogged to the locker room. Luckily, he returned just minutes later and led the comeback. Rubio added five boards, five assists, three steals, and three triples, rounding out his best fantasy line since returning earlier in the week. He should get better with every game but if you’re nervous about his long term health this is a nice time to sell high.
