Jackie Bradley Jr. plans to ‘go all Marshawn Lynch’ this season
repeating the same answers over and over again to the media that some other athlete would try to imitate his act.
And heeeeeeere we go. You had to know after all the attention Marshawn Lynch earned forEnter Jackie Bradley Jr., the Boston Red Sox outfielder who entered the league to a lot of hype in 2013 and has failed to deliver thus far. After hitting .198 last season in 127 games, Bradley reported early to the Red Sox complex in Fort Myers, Fla. It’s smart considering he’s part of a crowded outfield in Boston.
Earlier this week, he expressed his desire to “go all Marshawn Lynch” in 2015. And he’s not talking about eating Skittles and bowling over the opposition. Bradley told Rob Bradford of Boston’s WEEI he doesn’t plan to talk a lot this season:
“I’m going to go all Marshawn Lynch this year,” Bradley said.
“I just focus on me. I have to do what I’ve got to do. I don’t even talk about it to anybody. Action speaks louder than words, and that’s pretty much this whole year is going to be. I won’t have much to say. I’m just going to go out there and take care of business.”
That’s not full Beast Mode interview mode yet. Bradley didn’t enter into “I’m just here so I don’t get fined” territory, but he did adopt “Just doing me” as his favorite refrain in this particular interview.
“Just me and family time,” he said when asked what his offseason entailed. “Just doing me.”
“Just doing me,” he reiterated. “Just came in here blank slate and started doing what I normally do. It’s just having faith in myself, believing in myself and trusting myself.”
The thing about Bradley, though, nobody in Boston cares about his interviews. They want to see him deliver on the field, to make good on that potential. That’s one of the reason’s Lynch’s act worked — he’s really, really good at what he does.
And, shoot, some people in Boston might wonder why this Red Sox outfielder isn’t trying to “go all Tom Brady” in 2015. As we saw recently, that worked out a bit better.
