Independent leaguer breaks his own car windshield with grand slam
Hitting a grand slam is normally a joyous occasional. Doubly so if that grand slam is hit with your team down 3-0. So when Brandon Thomas of the Frontier League Gateway Grizzlies did exactly that, you knew he was going to celebrate the moment.
And, hey, why not? Thomas’ grand slam not only gave his club the lead, but it was, by all accounts, an absolute moonshot. Thomas’ bomb cleared the stadium wall and flew deep into a parking lot out past left field. It was one of those moments every baseball player dreams about.
The elation and joy of smashing a grand slam in that moment may have been short-lived for the former New York Yankees minor-leaguer, though. After the game, Thomas discovered that ball he crushed is going to cost him some money, and possible raise his car insurance rates.
Can’t make this up. @brandonthomas6 hit a grand slam tonight that smashed a windshield. That’s his own truck. pic.twitter.com/B1ZqFUyfSe

Yeah, Thomas actually shattered the windshield of his truck with his grand slam. It seems improbable, but then again, so does hitting a grand slam with your club down 3-0.
While this development might have discouraged other players, Thomas isn’t going to let it get him down.
Definitely worth it!! https://t.co/SDpC5CcX2m

That’s the spirit. And, hey, if there’s a positive in here it’s that Thomas will be getting a lot more exercise the rest of the baseball season. After his windshield-breaking blast, we’re assuming he’s just going to walk to the rest of the Grizzlies games this year.
