4 bold predictions for WWE SummerSlam – FOXSports.com
WWE SummerSlam is almost here. Six titles are on the line – including the brand-new Universal Championship – and it’s highly likely that WWE has some surprises in store Sunday night at the Barclays Center. Here are four things we think will happen at SummerSlam.
The New Day will lose
The New Day have become one of the best teams in the history of WWE, but Xavier Woods, Kofi Kingston and Big E have held the tag titles for an entire year. It feels like it’s time for a change, and WWE could potentially turn The Club into an NWO-type powerhouse Sunday night.
Finn Balor will become the WWE Universal Champion
The two men’s world championship matches seem to have fairly predictable winners – Seth Rollins is the heavy favorite over newcomer Finn Balor and the obvious choice to be the first Universal Champion, and it was a huge surprise Dolph Ziggler even won the No. 1 contender’s match for Dean Ambrose’s WWE title. There’s going to be a surprise in at least one of these matches – or, at least, there should be – and a win for Demon Finn would generate a tremendous amount of buzz.
Bayley will replace Eva Marie in the 6-woman tag match and move up to SmackDown
Eva Marie was scheduled to finally wrestle at SummerSlam, but a 30-day suspension earlier this week means there’s an open slot in the six-woman tag match. WWE has stated it could either become a handicap match or a recruit could be added – and Bayley is the perfect person to join the match. She lost her match at TakeOver: Brooklyn Saturday night against Asuka, essentially ending her feud with the NXT Women’s Champion. Daniel Bryan has stated that there will be a second women’s championship coming to SmackDown in the future, but the show needs another viable title contender to join Becky Lynch and Natalya. Bayley is that woman. An potentially earth-shaking surprise would be Bayley interfering in the Women’s Championship match later in the show.
Goldberg will make an entrance
