Judge finds time to take a shot at the Braves during death penalty case
The Atlanta Braves sport the worst record in baseball at 44-77. Really, this isn’t surprising given where they entered the season in their rebuild. They are in the process of transitioning from the “tear it down” phase to the “build it back up” portion. That’s last place every time, unless there’s a fellow rebuilding team in the division.
Still, the awful record will always make for a punch line and it happened to the Braves in an odd place this week.
As a judge was telling alternate jurors during a death penalty case in Forsyth, Georgia that they were not to discuss the case amongst themselves, the following happened, according to Macon.com:
“Again,” Wilson said, “you are not to discuss this case or talk about it whatsoever. Talk about … football if you so choose.”
Then he paused, looked down at some paperwork, and added, “Not the Atlanta Braves.”
Many in the courtroom gallery laughed.
Burn. A judge breaks out the trash talk during a death penalty case.
Quick question to the judge: Why can’t they just talk about all the impressive prospect talent the Braves have stockpiled in the early stages of the rebuild?
Oh, sorry, I had to go baseball dork there for a second. As you were.
