We keep seeing these flashes from Nikola Mirotic that make it seem like he could be a star before long. As a rookie, he was dominant in March, and then averaged 16.3 points per game last April, after struggling to make that kind of an impact for most of the season. Mirotic has the ability to consistently produce like that, with an improving 3-point shot and the ability to drive off closeouts and get to the rim and free-throw line against slower power forwards at will. However, he has struggled to play that way consistently, and has also gotten lost in the offense at times, and there is some concern that may happen this season. The Bulls‘ cleared out their frontcourt a bit, so playing time won’t be as much of a concern, but with the additions of Rajon Rondo and Dwyane Wade, there might be fewer opportunities for Mirotic to show off this season as well. He is in a tough spot, but Mirotic had enough upside to be worth targeting in the mid-to-late rounds on Draft Day.
