He is risen? New Royals rally mantis appears after apparent death
The tragic story of the Kansas City Royals and the rally mantis has now ventured into the supernatural. Just days after the original rally mantis’ apparent death, a new rally mantis appeared on the Royals’ dugout during Monday’s game against the Detroit Tigers.

Not caught up on the whole rally mantis story? That’s cool, we’ve got you covered at The Stew. A few days ago, a praying mantis appeared on the Royals’ dugout. The mantis eventually settled on Billy Burns’ cap, and the Royals started playing well.
After the team’s win, they took in the insect and used it as a rallying instrument for a couple days. The mantis even went on a road trip with the Royals.

That’s when tragedy struck. The rally mantis got sick and … get your tissues ready … passed away during the trip.
But the Mantis wasn’t moving in its cage this afternoon, which caused a ruckus in the clubhouse. “He’s dying!!!” Ian Kennedy screamed.

The club honored the mantis with a customary burial by toilet flush.
Thus ended the story of the Kansas City Royals and the rally mantis … or so we thought. By some power, perhaps divine intervention, a new rally mantis appeared on the Royals’ dugout during Monday’s game.
You already know the rest of the story. Using his magically praying mantis power, the new rally mantis summoned the spirit of the old rally mantis. With their combined strength, the rally mantises inspired the Royals to a 3-1 win over the Tigers.
The timing of the new rally mantis invites plenty of questions. Is this a new rally mantis, or a reincarnated version of the old rally mantis? Is this new mantis stronger than the old mantis? Will the Royals continue to praise what is most certainly a gift from the divine insect lord?
While many uncertainties remain, the rally mantis saga did confirm one major mystery of life: Miracles do exist!
