American Kerron Clement advanced to the semifinals of the 400 meter hurdles on Monday, after finishing third in his preliminary heat in 49.17 seconds. Clement and the rest of the event semifinalists will run again on Tuesday night, vying for one of the spots in Thursday’s final.
Clement entered Rio as the U.S. champion in the race, and also has the third-fastest time in the world this year, a 48.40 he ran at the Diamond League meeting in London last month.
But when he’s not running, the 30-year old, a two-time world champion in the event (2007, 2009) and silver medalist at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, has worked as a model and sometimes actor.
Among his credits: an appearance in Beyonce’s 2011 video, “Run the World (Girls).”
Clement, who also is the world-record holder in the indoor 400 meters, isn’t the only Olympian Beyonce has tapped to appear in one of her videos: earlier this year, Serena Williams was alongside the singer in “Sorry.”
