Eastern Michigan took the walk-on scholarship reveal to a new level (Video)
Just when we thought we had seen everything when it comes to scholarship reveal videos, Eastern Michigan took it to a new level.
As head coach Chris Creighton addressed his team following Saturday’s scrimmage, he was interrupted by the presence of several police cars approaching the stadium. Officers entered the field and told Creighton they were looking for Blake Banham, a walk-on running back for the Eagles.

One officer addressed Banham in front of the entire team. Before he could finish speaking, his teammates knew what was happening and erupted. Watch this:

The officer didn’t even have the chance to mention Banham’s new scholarship, but everybody knew what was happening. After things settled down, Creighton spoke of Banham’s great attitude and leadership qualities. He also confirmed that, yes, Banham, a redshirt sophomore, is now on full scholarship.
Banham arrived on campus in 2014 and took a redshirt, but still made an impact as the program’s scout team special teams player of the year. That carried over to 2015 when he played in all 12 games and even started one.
He had four carries for 27 yards, six receptions for 28 yards and averaged 20 yards per kickoff return on 20 attempts. Banham also registered four tackles on special teams. To top it off, Banham was a MAC All-Academic team selection as well.
