German gymnast completes routine with torn ACL
German gymnast Andreas Toba may not medal in Rio but he’s already emerged as one of the heroes of these Olympics. While performing a floor routine, the gymnast landed awkwardly on his first tumbling pass and injured his knee. Although he was able to walk off on his own, he was unable to continue the routine and received a score of 1.366.
Despite the fact that he’d torn his ACL, the 25-year-old’s Olympics were not yet done.

In order for Germany to qualify for team competition Toba still needed compete in the pommel horse event. Which he did. With a torn ACL.
After performing a clean routine, he was helped off by his teammates. Pretty impressive considering how he’d ended his earlier routine by crying out in pain while clutching his knee in agony.
Talk about taking one for the team!
