2018 guard Cormac Ryan picks up Michigan scholarship offer during weekend visit – MLive.com
ANN ARBOR — After being trailed by Michigan coaches all summer, Cormac Ryan made the trip to Ann Arbor this weekend. Coming from Milton, Mass., the talented shooting guard visited for U-M’s College Practice Camp, playing alongside a number of other 2018 prospects seeking a Michigan scholarship offer.
On Sunday, after a solid showing the day before, Ryan picked up that offer while still on campus.
Ryan will add the Wolverines’ scholarship offer to a pile including, Indiana, Florida, Stanford, Northwestern, Boston College, Davidson, Rice, St. John’s, Rutgers, DePaul, Tulane and George Mason. Recently, Wake Forest and Duke also reached out.
Of all the schools pursuing Ryan, Michigan has stood out this summer. According to Middlesex Magic AAU coach Mike Crotty Jr., U-M was present at every single one of Ryan’s AAU games this summer between coach John Beilein and assistants Billy Donlon and Jeff Meyer.
“They were amazingly consistent,” Crotty said. “Nobody watched us play more. So while actually offering (a scholarship) may take a little bit longer, when they know how interested they are, their devotion to showing that is second-to-none.”
Ryan was a clear standout during Saturday’s College Practice camp, perhaps being the best guard among a collection of targets including four-star guards Tim Finke and Dwayne Cohill, a pair of top-100 combo guards. Ryan showed off a smooth jumper, a nice handle and some above-the-rim athleticism.
Ryan is entering his junior season at Milton Academy.
