Don’t you ever doubt Bartolo Colon’s athleticism again
As baseball fans well know by now, Bartolo Colon never ceases to amaze us. Whether it’s *finally* hitting a homer or surprising us with a behind-the-back throw, you can usually count on Big Bad Bart doing something memorable when he’s on the field for the New York Mets.

Such it was, Thursday night Colon impressed yet again. He was starting for the Mets against the New York Yankees and, in the second inning, had the occasion to come off the mound and make a bare-handled play on a soft grounder hit by Gary Sanchez.
Watch as Colon comes off the mound all spry-like, makes the play, fires to first and gets Sanchez out. Might we add that Sanchez is 20 years younger than Bartolo.
You might be saying, “Well, that’s a pretty standard play that many pitchers in MLB can make.” True, but Colon is 43 and rotund. People laugh at his body shape and figure he’s not very athletic. Don’t ever say that again. Have you seen his offseason workouts?
Also notable on Thursday night: With the Mets’ 4-1 win, Colon became the first player in history to beat the Yankees as a Met and beat the Mets as a Yankee.
