Silver Knights? Vegas NHL team trying to 'nail' name choice
Since we first learned about Bill Foley’s intentions of bringing NHL hockey to Las Vegas it appeared that if the day ever arrived the favorite for the team’s nickname would be “Black Knights,” after the owner’s ties to the West Point.
Even before he officially had a team, Foley was set on a color scheme: black, gold and gray, the same colors as the Army Black Knights.
But now a little over a month after Foley was awarded an NHL franchise and weeks after he began filling out his front office, the big questions still unanswered is what will the team set to take the ice at T-Mobile Arena for the 2017-18 season be called?
Black Knights, right? Well, probably not.
Steve Carp, who covers the team for the Las Vegas Review-Journal says it won’t be Black Knights.
They don't have to worry because Black Knights won't be the name. Silver Knights? There's a good chance. But only Bill Foley knows for sure.

Meanwhile, during a July contest for Review-Journal readers fans voted “Outlaws” as their top choice, beating out Scorpions in the final. Sadly, “Hockey McHockeyface,” “Visitors” and “Keno Runners” failed to get out of the first round, along with the long presumed favorite “Black Knights.”
Foley’s right hand man, former NHLer Murray Craven, told Case Keefer of the Las Vegas Sun that they’re hoping to announce the nickname in the “next few weeks” as long as the process goes smoothly working in conjunction with the NHL.
“I think everyone realizes the impact of it all,” Craven told the Sun. “It’s important to have something people like, something people want to hear. It’s very important that we nail that.”
Better luck next time, Hockey McHockeyface.
