Young Padres fan enjoys his ice cream helmet more than anyone ever
On Monday the San Diego Padres were playing the Milwaukee Brewers, and while there may have been some good moments from the game itself (which the Padres won 7-3), the best moment came from the stands. During the broadcast, the TV team picked their fan of the game, and they chose a kid who was having a deep, satisfying encounter with his soft serve ice cream mini-helmet.
There is so much to love about this kid and his ice cream. First off, there’s an absolute mountain of it in the helmet. I visited Marlins Park for the first time on Friday, so of course I had a mini-helmet full of soft serve. They gave me an enormous, borderline irresponsible amount of ice cream, so I’m not shocked that this kid seems to have enough in his helmet to feed three other kids. But that ice cream is all for him, and he’s determined to enjoy every single bit of it while also enjoying the game. And when I say enjoy, I mean it. He’s savoring each spoonful, licking his fingers, and taking his time to make it last. (Though considering the risk of brain freeze, that might just be responsible ice cream consumption.)
This kid wasn’t satisfied to eat his ice cream with just a spoon though. He noticed that it was melting tilted the little helmet upward so he could slurp up all that tasty ice cream juice. And then he just abandoned the spoon entirely, taking his licks directly from the helmet. True, he was wearing a lot of it on his face by this point, but if you’re not covered in ice cream, did you really enjoy it to the fullest extent? I don’t think so.

My favorite moment was just a few seconds long, when the kid was between bites of ice cream and reacting to… something.
That little moment is so hilarious and wonderful. All I want to do is hear that kid’s opinions on baseball while he’s hopped up on ballpark sugar. I can only hope that when he was done his treat, he wiped out the inside of that mini-helmet and put it on his head. In my opinion, that truly completes the ice cream mini-helmet experience.
