Kyle Whittingham: CB Dominique Hatfield remains dismissed at Utah
remains dismissed despite the fact that aggravated robbery and theft charges against him were dropped in mid-July.
Utah coach Kyle Whittingham confirmed during Pac-12 media days Friday that cornerback Dominique Hatfield“No change. He’s dismissed,” Whittingham said. “He’s working through some things and he’s got through part of it, but right now there’s no change.”
Whittingham didn’t rule out a possible return for Hatfield, who was a starter last season, but noted that Hatfield had “other issues” beyond his legal ones that he needed to work through.
“I guess you never say never, so I guess there is a possibility,” Whittingham said of Hatfield returning. “But we’ll just have to see how things unfold.”
Hatfield was accused of robbing a man of $180 at knifepoint on June 30 after the man responded to an ad to purchase an Xbox. Hatfield was subsequently charged with aggravated robbery and theft of property.
Hatfield started 10 games as a sophomore in 2014. He had 38 tackles, nine pass breakups and one interception.
