– Eddie Butler hasn’t pitched particularly well this year, but he’s really struggled against lefties (.328/.438/.517). It will likely be glorified batting practice for Anthony Rizzo, Kyle Schwarber (if he plays), and Dexter Fowler.
– The Twins are set to face lefty Francisco Liriano today, giving Aaron Hicks (.920 OPS vs. LHP this year) and Brian Dozier (.891) big bumps in value.
– Drew Stubbs (.815) has hit lefties well in his career, and he should be in the lineup against lefty Jon Lester today. Carlos Gonzalez (.398) will likely be a non-factor if he plays.
– Jeremy Guthrie (.328/.392/.533) has been crushed by lefties this season, so it could be a big day for Jason Kipnis, Michael Brantley, Brandon Moss, and Carlos Santana. Both Kipnis (11-for-25, five extra-base hits) and Santana (11-for-25, six extra-base hits) have hit Guthrie hard in their careers.
– Nelson Cruz (1.159 OPS vs. LHP this year) is always a great choice when the Mariners are facing a lefty like they are today with Patrick Corbin. Teammates Kyle Seager (.888) and Franklin Gutierrez (.879) have also hit lefties well. Robinson Cano has struggled against lefties this year (.554), but he could be a sneaky reverse-platoon guy in DFS contests given his current hot streak. There’s no need to consider Brad Miller (.423) or Logan Morrison (.427), though.
– Everyone is in play against Jerome Williams, but he’s been especially bad against righties (.335/.365/.599). Josh Donaldson, Jose Bautista, Troy Tulowitzki, and Edwin Encarnacion should get their hacks in.
– Lefties have gotten the better of Mike Foltynewicz this year (.345/.397/.568), so fire up Chris Davis, Jimmy Paredes, and Matt Wieters.
– Chris Tillman has been hit hard by righties (.500 SLG) this season. Atlanta doesn’t have many righthanded power hitters, but Cameron Maybin has a little more upside than usual.
– Get Xander Bogaerts (.895 OPS vs. LHP) and Hanley Ramirez (.827) in your lineups against lefthander Jose Quintana. Even Mike Napoli (.814) might have some sleeper value. Let someone else use David Ortiz (.471).
– It’s a small sample, but Doug Fister has been getting ripped by righties this year (.369/.407/.555), so Adeiny Hechavarria could be undervalued today.
– Melky Cabrera is 10-for-20 with three doubles and a homer in his career against Rick Porcello, who’s struggled against virtually all hitters this year.
– Mike Moustakas is 15-for-31 with five doubles and a homer lifetime against Corey Kluber. Teammate Eric Hosmer hasn’t hit quite as well (8-for-33), but he’s shown good pop, clubbing three doubles and three homers. Salvador Perez (4-for-21) and Lorenzo Cain (5-for-26) have both struggled against Kluber.
