Arizona basketball: On Ashley's deal, locals, Arizona baby : Arizona Wildcats … – Arizona Daily Star
Spectacle
When the main court at Las Vegas’ Desert Oasis High School cleared out after a recent Fab 48 U16 game, the stands did not.
Everyone remained focused on the auxiliary court in the distance, where Tempe mega-prospect Marvin Bagley III was playing. All the seats closer to that tiny space were filled by college coaches.
But Bagley, a stunningly versatile 6-foot-11-inch rising sophomore at Corona Del Sol High School, went about business as normal.
This was normal, after all, for a guy who was offered scholarships by NAU and ASU just after he turned 14, and a guy whom ESPN now calls the No. 1 player in the class of 2018.
“I don’t even think about it,” Bagley said. “I’m just trying to play like when they weren’t there, when they weren’t in the stands and do what I’ve been doing to help the team win.”
Despite the No. 1 player ranking, and the Arizona Division I title Bagley helped Corona Del Sol win last March, there’s still plenty of incentive to keep going.
“I have a lot to work on,” Bagley said. “Scoring, rebounding, getting assists, blocking shots, whatever it is. I’m trying to get everything better.”
